A typical Monday episode really, setting up for the rest of the week. The whole episode felt a bit lifeless, but it wasn't without some good points.
Ronnie's ready to start 'doing more'. Going out, spending time with Matthew, getting back to work, maybe even slamming the odd car boot on someone's head. Charlie and Roxy are keeping something from Ronnie, yet choose to bellow that 'this stays between us' and 'Ronnie mustn't find out' at the top of their fucking voices. Come on Enders, stop insulting our intelligence. She makes her way down the stairs, alone, much to the panic of Charlie and Roxy. Roxy worries that Ronnie could've fallen down the stairs and cracked her head open. Better luck next time, ay. And then Veronica tells Charlie that she's 'literally going crazy. Okay, she's not 'going' crazy, she's been crazy for a long time. The woman is a psychopath.
Information: Nick Cotton died in February. Question: Why is his funeral happening four months later? Answer: Block Storylining. My old favourite. Dot's monologues are creepy. How predictable that Charlie would be taking Roxy to the funeral. And that's why he didn't want Ronnie there. So if Charlie and Roxy have supposedly reconciled, then when did this happen? Off screen? Of course it did. Welcome to block storylining! Ronnie isn't happy about this and heads home straight away, where she smashes up a framed photo of her wedding. I wonder if that was symbolic and she brings Charlie to an end too. I'm informed by a very reliable source that Declan Bennett is on his way out soon, so I wouldn't be surprised.
And so Dean is struggling for customers. He's using that as a smokescreen for his anger over Roya. Next up, he lets Lola go and replaces her with Paul. Interesting. I've long thought that Lola could be Dean's next victim, and I still think that's a possibility. Whether he's a rapist or not, he was right to let Lola go. She isn't reliable and left without telling anyone.
The Masood's. Great to see them get more focus. Nitin Ganatra is one of the show's most reliable actors, and he was great again tonight. He desperately wants to see Roya, and with very little dialogue conveyed his anger brilliantly, his facial expressions were on point. And his little quips to Shabnam about the past and responsibility were superb. Tamwar was watchable tonight, for once. He was absolutely right to warn Masood that he risks gaining a grandchild to lose a daughter. He was also right to tell Masood to hurry up with his pitch application. I look forward to seeing Masood out on the market. I really am sending a surprise Zainab return.
I'm sorry, but I'm not liking Kim pretending to be a businesswoman. It isn't funny, it's cringey. Good to see Sharon and Vincent working together though. Vincent is becoming more bearable, and Sharon is just sublime lately, isn't she? Hope Sharon blows Kim out of the water with this competition.
Half decent episode, but nothing special.
